Bajaj Freedom CNG : Just a month ago, Bajaj unveiled the all-new Freedom, the first motorcycle in the world to run on compressed natural gas. Following the start of reservations and delivery in Gujarat and Maharashtra, Bajaj has now declared that the Freedom would be accessible in 77 Indian cities from August 15. Recently, a less expensive variant of the Freedom has been observed in testing; it is likely aimed at the 100cc commuter market.

The spy photos show various variations between the test mule’s front end and the Freedom 125. In addition to having smaller fork shrouds, the bike also seems to feature a more straightforward front mudguard design. Furthermore, the front fender is finished in a single color tone rather than the dual-tone design found on the 125. The bike has a standard halogen unit, and it also looks like the headlamp mount is simpler.

The bike’s grab grip in the back is finished in silver, which may be the usual color for this model. Since the rear tire hugger is longer, rainwater spray is probably better protected from it.
The 125cc engine in the Freedom is expected to remain mechanically unchanged, producing 9.5 horsepower and 9.7 Nm. It will be interesting to observe whether the less expensive version of the Freedom has a smaller CNG tank than the 2-liter model that comes standard. While switching from a standard petrol-powered commuter bike to a CNG cycle would be too drastic for some clients, it would be one option to save money.
